Technopark puts Kerala on IT World map: features in Asian top three

Technopark offers India’s Best Value Hi-tech Environment

Pramod Mahajan inaugurates “Bhavani” building at Technopark

August 18, 2002,

Thiruvananthapuram: With the inauguration of the massive sixth industrial modules building, Kerala Technopark is now India’s largest software park. Inaugurated by Mr. Pramod Mahajan, Union Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Technopark will now provide an additional half million sq. ft. of pure technology space for India’s fastest growing IT State – Kerala.  With this, the total built-up area stands at 1.4 million sq. ft. making it one of Asia’s top two software parks.

The building like the five before it, is also named after a major river in Kerala.  The others include Pamba, Periyar, Nila, Chandragiri and Gayatri.

The others present at the inauguration included Mr. A K Antony, CM, Kerala, Mr. O Rajagopal, Minister of State for Urban Development, Mr. P K Kunhalikutty, IT Minister, Kerala.

The magnificent six floor, 4,80,000 sq. ft., centrally air-conditioned building is specifically designed to meet global IT & ITES industry standards. Bhavani’s 55,000 sq. ft. x 6 floors of ‘column-free’ office space houses 130 modules of ideal industrial space and 22 IT modules on each floor planned around a large landscaped atrium. In fact, multiple level redundancies in the power infrastructure support both the campus as well as each individual building, and Bhavani thus has an independent 100% generator backup.

The concept of Bhavani is based on the ‘maximization of factors’ to meet the growing demand of IT companies such as 1) an in-built ability to expand efficiently and in modules and 2) incorporate facilities that provide maximum light and ventilation. With an optic fibre cable landing at the BSNL exchange less than 100 m. away and multiple satellite earth stations on campus, Bhavani is the most impressive in Technopark and Asia’s most uniquely ready-to-use facility for the ITES sector today.

The Bhavani building truly represents the world class positioning that Kerala shall adopt going forward. I am sure that with the State providing quality infrastructure at very reasonable cost, more and more investors will look at Kerala.”

Kerala is India’s most IT-ready state and is successfully pitching itself as an attractive ITES/BPO destination” said Mr Kunhalikutty in his address, “and the increased availability of ready to use high quality technology space will allow Kerala to quickly harness the rush of industry interest in the state”.  Ms Aruna Sunderarajan, IT Secretary, Govt. of Kerala, who is also Chairperson of the Technopark Project Implementation Board, added “It is significant that India’s first software park is now among India’s two biggest.  This is an important milestone in the history of Kerala. "

This building stands out in its exceptional features and unparalleled value proposition.  Mr. Rajiv Vasudevan, CEO, Technopark, explains “Bhavani, the magnificent building in the Technopark Campus well represents the unique Technopark enabling environment with world class infrastructure for global IT and ITES companies at approximately 1/3rd the cost that of comparable infrastructure in other cities, making it India’s best value hi-tech environment.”

Technopark represents a potent combination of state of the art infrastructure supported by an excellent work environment. With the inauguration of the magnificent Bhavani, Technopark has now achieved the impressive milestone of becoming Asia’s finest ready-to-use facility for the IT industry.
