The Fire and Rescue station at Technopark inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri. Oommen Chandy
The Fire and Rescue station at Technopark inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy brings a sigh of relief to the techies working here. Currently, the station functions at the Gayathri building in Technopark. The Fire Force has also acquired 60 cents of land for a permanent fire station. This is the 100th Fire and Rescue Station in the State.
The Technopark CEO Mervin Alexander said, “Setting up a Fire and Rescue station inside the campus was a necessity and we will now be able to address the numerous complaints raised by the professionals not just in the campus but in the locality as well. Further this will enhance our brand value too. We also hope that the Home Department commences the construction of the permanent fire station without delay for which Technopark has already allotted 60 cents of land valued at not less than Rs. 4 crores at the current market rate.”
Inaugurating the function, the Chief Minister said, “Kazhakoottom is the industrial hub of Trivandrum. Technopark was ready to make all arrangements for a fire station to come up within its facility and that is why this implementation happened so fast.” He added that the Fire and Rescue department merits full consideration and that the government has allotted special funds and an academy for the training of its recruits.
Minister for IT, P K Kunhalikutty presided over the inaugural function. Trivandrum Mayor K Chandrika and Kazhakkoottom MLA M A Vahid also attended the function.
The Fire and Rescue station at Technopark will have as many as 20 personnel, comprising of 12 firemen, three drivers, a mechanic, station officer, additional station officer, lower division clerk and a live in servant. It will be equipped with state-of –the-art firefighting and rescue equipment including two water tenders, inflatable power lights, chainsaws and breathing apparatus. It will not only attend to emergencies within Technopark, but also provide its services to places within a 10km radius of the park. |
