VSC have decided to support in campaign through social media as well as directly with devotees. In this regard on 05-Dec-2015, a direct campaign was conducted covering all major temples in Trivandrum starting from Pazhavangadi Ganapathy temple. The volunteers have communicated the importance and guidelines for maintaining Sabarimala clean and plastic free to devotees and to the temple authorities. They have distributed the flyers and put up banners in temples to create awareness among people. The campaign was widely accepted in all temples by devotees and temple authorities.
The volunteers have also noticed that the Thycaud Sree Dharama Sastha temple is already following a 100% plastic free pilgrimage by ensuring that there are no plastic items( like covers, rose water bottles etc. ) in the Irumudi Kettu. A sample of this Irumudi Kettu was demonstrated at other temples to set model for them.
As a next step, VSC is planning to conduct road show from Technopark to Pamba to create awareness in people for a “responsible and conscious pilgrimage” on 19th Dec. Interested parties please call / mail to VSC.
