GROWN UP
(POEM)
“Finish the plate beta”, came the ever acquainted voice,
Harrowing me to do it for no other choice,
Yet the stubborn me won’t listen to her;
“don’t pursue me maa, I know my good”.
I thought of revolting against the routine start up,
As I presumed by far to be a grown up.
Stern did I grew, rude as always,
Little did I paid heed to sanity nowadays:
But the feminine face would beam at me with fury mild,
“Work hard son time is fleeting “,she would tell.
Raging like an imbecile I told her to shut up,
As I presumed by far to be grown up.
Days passed ,months and those tiring years,
As my plans, routines and studies shifted gears.
Discontented mind of mine was disturbed to the deep drawn dejection.
“Don’t worry son I am with you”, came the soothing voice,
And fell on my deaf ears gone numb slogging the strife.
“No more of your pity maa please give up”
As I presumed by far to be a grown up.
The lacuna in my life has widened apart,
The selfish greed and ugly truths have thrown a dart,
I Yearn, I crave to hear that tranquil voice once more,
The healing touch the caring lap has gone far I know.
All I am left is a void as I wind up,
I wrongly assumed that I was growing up.
