Kunhalikutty to lay foundation stone for Technopark tomorrow

Kerala Industries and IT Minister P K Kunhalikutty will lay the foundation stone for Technoparks new IT building in Phase 1 campus -- Shiriya -- at Travancore Hall, Park Centre, Technopark, tomorrow. The building, which once built will be the largest IT building at first phase of Technopark with 9 lakhs sqft of IT space. The building is named after the river Shiriya that flows through Badoor village at Kozhikode and Kumbla in Kasargod. The 12-storied building will have four basement floors only for parking and each floor will be 75,000 sq.ft of floor plate, making it the largest floor plate building in Technopark campus. This is the 10th building in Technopark named after a river. The project is slated to be completed in three years time at an estimated cost of Rs.260 crore, offering 7000 direct employment on completion. Technopark is the countrys first and largest IT Park. Last fiscal the park recorded IT exports of Rs.5100 crore, contributing 55 per cent of the States IT exports. The park is expected to close the IT exports at Rs. 6250 crores this financial year ending March 31, this year. Technopark officials feel that their latest offering will be able to address the huge demand for space from IT companies from Kerala and other states and thus would bring bigger opportunities to the State.The foundation stone laying ceremony will be graced by Shashi Tharoor, MP; M A Vahid MLA; Jiji Thomson Chief Secretary; Adv V K Prashanth, Trivandrum Mayor; Biju Prabhakar, Collector, Trivandrum; Suni Chandran, Councillor, Attipra; V K Mathews, Member, Governing Council, Technopark Chairman, GTech; and K G Girish Babu, Former CEO of Technopark.
